Annual Wildflower Nectar Patch

This nectar patch contains wildflowers native to cornfields to attract pollinating insects. These include Poppies, Cornflowers, Corn Camomile and Corn Marigolds.  The seeds are sown annually on bare ground.  At the end of the summer the seeds are collected from the dead flower heads and dried for resowing. Local school children help out with sowing the seeds in spring.

The wildflower nectar patch was developed with the help of the ‘Networks for Nectar’ project and the ‘Grow Wild’ initiative.
